Teaching Donkeys Owners How to Trim Hooves
Jun 06, 2026
I'm gonna drop it like it's hot! ha!
Yes, I am in my mid forties, If that didn't give it away π
Which means (since I have been trimming donkeys for 20+ years) I was 24 years old when I picked up my first donkey hoof as a wee padawan farrier apprentice in early 2006.
At the time I didn't know how important this was. I just knew that I wanted to work with horses and be "free", meaning to own my business.
It just happened that my mentor also trimmed donkeys, and truth be told, I was freaking SMITTEN from the first meeting.
We actually went to a mini donkey breeder farm (and I still work there today after all these years) and there was baby donkeys! omg.
(photo below of me holding baby donkey back at the ripe ol' age of 24)

So that's cute! I fell head over heels, and then would discover very quickly through my apprenticeship, that donkeys were underserved, misunderstood and in the worst cases they were severely mistreated by folks in our profession.
My mentor had a gentle heart and a deep love for donks.
I really consider my time working alongside him as another one of my "divine assignments".
We went all over the county trimming donkeys no one else would. Which was a lot.
And when he ultimately moved away a few years later, and left me his business, I continued on.
Donkeys became the heart of my farrier career.
My focus became showing my clients and colleagues that donkeys were amazing. I handled them with care and compassion. I prioritized letting go of restraints and creating relationships that allowed for me to trim them with no halter or lead ropes. They would willing stand for me in the middle of a field. I was doing what people said wasn't possible.
The farrier industry was still hooting and hollerin' saying donkeys were dangerous!
Not only did trimming donkeys become the heart of my career, it became a mission. I became the champion to underdog.
Over the next 15 years I would end up traveling the whole state of California to trim donkeys, summoned by owners who could not find anyone to help them. I mentored six in person apprentices, (four whom still have farrier careers today) became the lead farrier for a massive donkey rescue, (three of my former apprentices also now work at the same rescue) spent several years teaching owners in person how to trim their own donkey's hooves, and in 2020 I would create the one and only online course built for donkey owners to learn to trim their own donkeys. Since then over 500 students from around the world have learned this skill.
I would have never dreamed of this way back then. But as everything unfolded, I realized donkey owners were the key.
So what if you can't find a farrier?
Don't be afraid to tell someone to kick rocks if they mistreat your donkey... because you can trim their hooves yourself!
You become the person your donkey trusts. Hoof handling resistance is just communication. Owners around the world have become the best thing to ever happen to their donkeys hooves.
I'm your coach, your cheerleader. I took complex farrier science and turned it into something you can understand. I made learning to trim your own donkey... EASY!
And the best part is, it is a skill you get to keep for the life of your donkey and beyond.
Hooves get healthier, bonds get stronger, worry takes hike, and you become so dang empowered.
This is why I am so passionate about this. I have seen over and over again the transformations that my students and their donkeys experience.
And through my online program I am able to help so many donkeys and their owners, which wouldn't be possible otherwise.
It is the evolution of my divine assignment. It was born from the donkeys who have been my teachers and guide this whole time.
If you have read this far, then I wanted to tell you July 10th is the 6th birthday of the course, and my birthday too.
Enrollment for DIY Donkey Hoof Trimming is open from now until July 10th. Then I am closing it down for a while, so I can do some deeper dives with all the students in the classroom and community.
So this means if you have been "thinking about it", "someday" "in a few months" etc... you don't have that time to dilly dally.
If you are serious about this program and making this type of difference in your donkey's life, then you gotta make a move.
To be clear this is LIFETIME ACCESS, with a classroom + learning community.
Two new payment plan options have been added so that everyone can access this program.
The truth is you can do it, I already know you can. I have already helped hundreds of people before you do it.
Your donkey can also do it. Even if they don't lift their hooves or are hard to handle... how do I know? Because tons of donkeys have also gone through the program with their owners and now confidently and calmly stand for hoof trims.
The program is not just about hoof trimming, it's about relationship, building trust, hoof handling and so much more!
The owners who jump in and do the work make beautiful progress and create meaningful change.
I would love for that to be you!
